Computers of the Future

We know where we are in the world of computers. We have operating systems and harddrives. We have processors and RAM. Now there's talk of virtualization, which is a very old idea originating in the 60's. In fact, most of the research and definitions were done in the early 70s. So people are saying we'll have thin-clients (again, like the main-frame days) and everything will be downloaded from a cloud.

What do I think? First of all, let's drop down the barriers. C: drive. Let's get rid of the idea of "drives". The data can go wherever it wants to go. Operating systems. Get rid of them. Applications. What are they? Folders. They don't exist anymore. Files. Gone. Now, what are we left with? A humming processor. Feel it. Feel the processor. Feel the electrons move around inside it. Sense the heat from the friction of the electrons. Now, you're ready to think outside the box. Invent a system of storing data. Let's call it the "data house". Now you can store bits and bytes onto the hard-drive using your data house. Then, feel free to invent a system of accessing that data and organizing it for the user. Let's call this the "organizing system", let's call it "O.S." for short. ... wait. ... D'oh!

Runescape - Hallowe'en Event and Quest

Runescape - Hallowe'en Event and Quest

Maggie, a travelling witch, has come to southern Asgarnia for the holiday festivities, but she's in a bit of a spot. She needs an enchanted broom to finish her potion but her ox has a cold and can't be left alone. In Swept Away, you'll need to visit several nearby witches on Maggie's behalf – and solve a few puzzles along the way.

While you're in the neighbourhood, why not try out the Holiday Event: a bit of trick-or-treating in Draynor, Rimmington and Port Sarim. The towns are decked out in holiday décor and the villagers have treats to distribute to those wearing a suitable costume. If you're interested in some holiday garb, have a chat with Maggie: she's on the look-out for someone who can do a bit of trick-or-treating on her behalf.

Swept Away can be started by talking to Maggie, who is located south of Falador and east of the Crafting Guild. The quest will be available to all players for two weeks; after this time, it will only be available to members. The Hallowe'en decorations and trick-or-treating will only be available during the same holiday period. Any treats remaining in your bank or inventory after this time will disappear after Hallowe'en.

In other news...

A large number of sound effects and changes to sound effects have been added, especially to capes and the skillcape emotes.

Human animations have been extensively modified to stop players appearing to glide around. You should also notice less 'clipping' with items like capes and armour when performing various actions or using emotes.

When you're dismissing a familiar, you can now right-click on the 'Dismiss' button. This will let you skip the confirmation screen, making it easier to dismiss the familiar during combat.

Fairy rings now have a larger clickable area. Previously, it was quite small and potentially difficult to click on, so we've enlarged it to make your journeys quicker.

Adding items to fill up compost bins should now be considerably easier. When you've used one item on the bin, your character will automatically attempt to put any further items of that type into the bin, saving you a bit of clicking.

Metarialus and Blandebir (the brewing chaps in Port Phasmatys and Keldagrim) will now offer to fill all your pots with yeast at once rather than making you go through their conversation for each pot. Using one beer glass on a barrel of freshly brewed beer will also make your character attempt to fill all their beer glasses without any additional clicking, and there's a newly installed water source in the brewery at Port Phasmatys.

Bounty Hunter Combat levels have been updated to reflect recent Combat level changes. The crater entrance requirements are now: 3-55, 50-100 and 95+ (all without Summoning).

Dragon dagger p++ should now be easier to find on the Grand Exchange. We've also taken the opportunity to change some adamant items to use "addy" at the start. This is only for the super poisoned items, namely arrows, daggers and spears.

QuickChat has now been given a predictive search feature to allow you to find the phrases you want more effectively.

A distant rumble has recently been heard just north of Baxtorian Waterfall...

Start Point: Northwestern tower of Varrock Palace.

To Start: Talk to Captain Rovin.

Talk to Captain Rovin, he will tell you that Hartwin has seen an army of zombies at the Runescape Graveyard of Shadows.

Note: Read the Runescape Legend of Arrav in the Runescape Lores and Histories if you wish to get a better understanding of the Runescape storyline of the Runescape quest.

While Hartwin is following you, head to the Runescape Graveyard of Shadows, located just west of the Runescape Clan Wars lobby. Talk to him when you get the Runescapere. He will tell you that the Runescapere was an army. You will notice the Runescape zombie tracks.

Note: You may also use a games necklace to teleport straight to the Runescape Clans Wars lobby. From the Runescapere on, head west to the Runescape graveyard.

Inspect the Runescape bushes and trees nearby to uncover the Runescape tracks, just as you would in hunting kebbits. In one of the Runescape trees, you will find a grubby key.

Keep inspecting objects until you notice that the Runescape footpaths end at the Runescape Chaos Altar.

Use the Runescape Grubby key to unlock and open the Runescape trapdoor behind the Runescape altar.

As you go down the Runescape trapdoor, you will see a lot of zombies. On the Runescape eastern side of the Runescape tunnel, you will notice the Runescape option "Look-over balcony". Choose it and you will see a cut scene with 3 Mahjarrats and Arrav.

Go a little west and grab 3 Bottles. You now need to start killing the Runescape zombies. Use the Runescape bottles on the Runescape red mist the Runescapey emit upon death. You need 3 Bottles of mist in order to go through the Runescape next door. Anothe Runescaper cut scene occurs, featuring Arrav.

Once the Runescape cut scene has ended, you must kill 3 more zombies and collect the Runescapeir red mist. Proceed through the Runescape next door and look over the Runescape balcony for anothe Runescaper cut scene. After the Runescape cut scene, Hartwin will give you a Varrock teleport tablet and ask you to speak to Captain Rovin.

Teleport to Varrock and talk to Captain Rovin. He will ask you to talk to Thurgo, south of Port Sarim.

Make your way to Thurgo's hut south of Port Sarim and talk to him. He will tell you to go to Camdozaal, the Runescape Imcando Dwarf Hall under Ice Mountain. He will give you a scrap of paper with coordinates, which shows you the Runescape location.

Note: If you have not acquired a Blurite ore prior to starting the Runescape quest, we advise you to mine an ore in the Runescape Blurite dungeon, located east of Thurgo.

Head to the Runescape White Tree on top of the Runescape Ice Mountain and dig just to the Runescape east of it. You will dig a hole out of the Runescape snow. Use your pickaxe with the Runescape churned-up snow to mine the Runescape rubble. Enter the Runescape hole and crawl to Camdozaal.

Talk to Ramarno, the Runescape sage of the Runescape Imcando dwarves. He will tell you that he will help you unlock the Runescape power of the Runescape Shield of Arrav, but only if you can smith.

Note: If you give Ramarno a Redberry pie, you will receive 1K Smithing XP.

Use the Runescape Blurite ore with the Runescape Sacred Forge. Talk to Ramarno, so that he can work his magic that will unlock the Runescape power of the Runescape shield. You will see a cut scene with Traiborn, Queen Ellamaria, Fenkenstrain's Monster, the Runescape Wise Old Man, and Zamouregal talking to you outside of the Runescape Forge.

Teleport back to Varrock. As you approach the Runescape palace, you will see the Runescape zombie invasion. Talk to Captain Rovin and he will give you the Runescape restored Shield of Arrav and tell you to look in the Runescape library for its descendants.

Head to the Runescape library and talk to Reldo. Read the Runescape list lying on the Runescape floor. the Runescape List of elders includes the Runescape following descendants:

Romeo
Juliet
Draul Leptoc (Juliet's Fathe Runescaper)
Horvik the Runescape Blacksmith
Curator Haig Halen
King Roald
Sir Prysin
Aenoisig Raispher (King Roald's advisor)
Gontamue

Talk to each one of the Runescape descendants. One of the Runescapese people will tell you that the Runescape next person in the Runescapeir bloodline was married to someone with the Runescape surname of Fitzharmon. Read the Runescape Varrock Census back at the Runescape library to realize that this person is referring to Diminthe Runescapesis.

Note: the Runescape person who will tell you about Diminthe Runescapesis differs from player to player.

Speak to Diminthe Runescapeis, next to the Runescape Fancy Dress shop. You will see a cut scene of all the Runescape zombies being defeated by Diminthe Runescapeis with the Runescape Shield of Arrav.

Head back to Captain Rovin to receive your reward.

Congratulations! Quest Completed!

Visit Historian Minas at the Runescape Varrock Museum to receive anothe Runescaper 5 Kudos, making a total of 163 possible Kudos. Minas will also hand you a lamp, giving 1,000 XP in the Runescape skill of your choice.
